Fancy a quickie?

Fancy a quickie?

The media is full of stories about how much sex we’re not having. Whether we’re too tired, too busy or too depressed, sex can often come way down on the list of priorities. And when we do have it, the act can sometimes be rushed, unfulfilling or like scratching an itch that’s never fully satisfied.
But great sex doesn’t need to be just an act. Done properly, it can be as expressive an art as music or painting. And like any art, becoming skilled at sex takes practice!
Focus on practising little and often, and on playing your body like any other instrument you’d like to master. Set aside just 20 minutes two or three times a week to experiment with tantric principles and you’ll start to open up and strengthen the pathways in your body along which energy moves.
That will have a dramatic impact on your energy levels, your health and vitality and your ability to consciously enjoy the journey of sex instead of just its conclusion. Then you’ll be able to experience more of those toe-curling full body climaxes rather than settling for the less intense ‘genital-only’ orgasms you’re probably more familiar with.
The key to tantric sex practices is consciousness. ‘Conscious’ sex isn’t about ensuring your partner hasn’t nodded off, instead it’s about staying present, tuning in to how your body feels, how your breathing flows, how your partner looks, feels or tastes and each and every passing moment.
Good sex isn’t always about going the distance — it’s about fully feeling your pleasure and connecting to your self or your partner. Engaging our awareness and emotions in this way enables us to be more in touch with our inner world, strengthening our relationships and helping us to relax more and fully let go.
When we’re able to do that, there’s greater meaning, depth and joy in all aspects of our lives, not just between the sheets!
