What’s at the end of the rainbow? Western Sydney of course!

What’s at the end of the rainbow? Western Sydney of course!

“Finally it has happened to me, right in front of my face”, ooops, this ain’t the karaoke competition at Stonewall, it’s my monthly column.

Well OMFG!!! I can finally say “no more rehearsals, no more yelling and no more patronising comments from ungrateful nobodies that I’ve turned into slight some bodies”. My days of production shows are over, at least temporarily.

With the huge success that’s taking place at Heaven, I have decided to step aside for a few months and put all my efforts into promoting and organising the night, as well as continuing to emcee.

This is great for both the cast members of Your Westy Divas and for our fabulous patrons at Heaven Social Dance as the night will be seeing a lot more variety.

While I’ve stepped to the side, I’ve managed to scour the rehab clinics nationwide in search of a replacement, and boy have I found gold. Well, maybe not gold, but definitely another precious metal. It’s not all clean and gorgeous, it’s a little rusty, Rusty Boxxx that is.

With a three-year absence from the stage, ever popular city queen Rusty Boxxx made a triumphant return to the stage on Saturday night, even managing to overcome  a few technical sabotage attempts. So for all you budding queens out there, Mother Buttercup says always have backups to your CDs and make sure you burn it in the correct format. Luckily my daughter LayDee KinMee saved the night with her iPod. Technology, can’t live with it, can’t live without it.

Things out west are really starting to heat up and we ain’t just talking about the weather. After the success of opening night, Kaleidoscope will resume on Saturday November 6 at Parramatta Golf Club. Don’t be confused people, it’s not Dolphins and it has no affiliation with Dolphins. It’s a brand new night organised by Janice Waters that will go monthly in February next year.

This will see Dolphins knocked down to once a month (on the 3rd Saturday) and Kaleidoscope on the 1st Saturday.

For me, it is very exciting as I will be returning to the Golf Club as a guest at Kaleidoscope, almost two years after my public boycott of the club.

For those of you who don’t remember, I was very upset the club had tripled their function fee after verbal discussions to move Heaven there. Old wounds have healed and Heaven is happier than ever at the Northmead Bowling Club. My best wishes to Janice and Kaleidoscope at The Parramatta Golf Club, with a new board present, I’m sure my previous concerns will all be forgotten.

In other big news, after lots of tongue wagging out west and down at the ‘Gong, you can say you heard it all here first. The rumours Pure Pride is over a completely untrue. After its successful opening, I think Pure got a little excited and decided to go bi-monthly, which proved to be a bit of overkill.

With Castros the only current alternative for the GLBT community, Pure Pride has been very wise and decided to run the last Friday of every month.

With no other GLBT-friendly events running on Fridays, I’m sure this will prove to be most successful. Friday October 29 is the date for the next Pure Pride. Will it be Halloween themed? Wait and see.

In addition, Unity is set to re-start on November 13 at the Beaton Park Tennis Club. Check out their Facebook page for details.
Who’s got the X Factor? Who blew who? Find out this Saturday, October 16 at The Pollys Club, Marrickville Town Hall. Shows at 9:30pm.

Drag Gossip: Are my daughters following in my footsteps? Those long nights at Arrows in heels just don’t agree with me like they use to. My two daughters have taken over my private sling room and proven they can entertain the troops like no other. Which one however got a little too excited, played a little too hard and is now ready for bowel reconstruction?
‘til next time gorgeous!
