Spice Girls reunite for musical

All five Spice Girls reunited in public for the first time in four years yesterday, appearing at London’s St Pancras Hotel – the location of their iconic 1996 Wannabe video clip – to announce details for their forthcoming West End musical.

Appearing with comedian Jennifer Saunders, who wrote the show, and Mamma Mia! mastermind Judy Craymer, who’s producing, the fivesome unveiled season details for Viva Forever!, which will open at Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End on December 11.

Victoria Beckham and Melanie Brown did little to quell rumours of a long-running rift between them, staying at opposite ends of the group at all times, with Beckham looking her usual glum self.

The group’s last reunion, for their 2007/08 Return of the Spice Girls world tour, left a sour taste in Australian fans mouths when the tour was cut short ahead of a planned Sydney date. Let’s hope Viva Forever! makes it down under to compensate for the fact we’ve never seen the Spicies perform live in this country.
