Get swimwear-ready for summer
Once the weather starts to warm up most of us start wishing we had the beach body we promised ourselves last summer, and the summer before that.
Well, this year it’s going to happen and if you want to be ready for summer, and the party season, there are just 12 weeks to go.
Put down the comfort food
It’s time to put away those comforting, warming winter foods which are often high in fat and carbohydrates. Give up the pre-packaged food that’s filled with ‘ingredients’ that are really just chemicals. Start to think rawer foods, such as brown rice, fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats for protein.
Start exercising early
It takes work for people to achieve their best summer body. Committing to a reasonable exercise program now accomplishes far more than crash diets and excessive training days before you’re supposed to meet your friends at the beach.
An exercise plan that fits into the daily routine is one you are more likely to stick to.
Mix it up to get the greatest results; if you are worried about meeting your goals, ask for help; consult a personal trainer, ask to train with any ‘gym buffs’ you know or try a group fitness class.
Prep your skin to be seen
A little daily maintenance will help towards having smooth taut skin. A stiff body brush, used dry for a rougher exfoliation or in the shower for a more gentle experience, will slough off dull dead skin and help clean pores.
Sun-smart tan
A nice tan can not only be slimming but can also give your skin a healthy glow. Rather than baking in the sun, which can lead to burns, premature wrinkles and cancer, try a self-tanner or visit a spray tan professional.
Pick the right suit
The key to feeling confident on the beach or by the pool is choosing the right swimsuit for your body type, and feeling comfortable wearing it in public.
Look at the different styles available to find one which maximises your best attributes, and pick a colour that complements your skin colour as there will be a lot of it on show.
Before you decide to think about it later, remember how you felt last year when you started stripping down to your swimsuit. It’s not necessarily about losing weight or toning up. It’s about doing the little things to make you feel comfortable in your own skin — so you can feel confident to live your life how you want.
