Ashley and Kisha: Finding the Right Fit is the fifth film in a series of erotic productions from pornomentary director, Tony Comstock. These are not your usual porn flicks: rather interviews with real couples about their bedroom lives spliced with scenes of them having sex for Comstock’s cameras.

Comstock’s work is controversial. His previous films have included Damon and Hunter: Doing it Together featuring a gay male couple, which was banned from several film festivals because of its explicit nature.

In his latest effort, Comstock turns his lens to an African-American lesbian couple, Ashley and Kisha. In the 54-minute film the women explain in detail how they got together, their first sexual experience, and their preferences in the sack.

Early on we learn that Ashley, a veritable lesbian predator, pursued the previously straight Kisha until she finally succumbed to her charms. When they met, Ashley was making out with her ex-girlfriend in the toilets of a club.

She swears she saw Kisha’s bare bottom that night, and was totally hooked. It took some time for her to win Kisha over. As Kisha explained, I told her I didn’t know what she could do for me as a woman -“ I like penetration.

The pair, looking very snug on the couch through their interview, are sweet, funny, romantic and bold in turn when describing their experiences and feelings for each other. Watching the full sex scene at the end of the DVD is almost an intrusion.

Comstock (a pseudonym inspired by Anthony Comstock, a moral crusader in the late 19th and early 20th centuries) began making these films in response to porn films that he thought were perverse, and which failed to portray sex in a genuine manner.

I love exploring the erotic, he says. I love hearing what turns people on, I love seeing what turns people on. I love seeing what people do when they are turned on.

Comstock says the purpose of these films is two-fold: to explore the sex lives of real couples in his documentary style, and to evoke sexual arousal from the viewer.

I love when people watch my films and laugh and cry and sigh, and most of all I love when people watch my films and get turned on, he said.

In the film, the women admit they were a little nervous about the cameras, and through the sex scene it is clear that Ashley wears the pants: taking the sexual initiative and mollycoddling her somewhat innocent, na? lover.

Today’s shoot was awkward at first, but I didn’t want anyone to miss how we feel about each other, Ashley said.

While Ashley is out and proud, Kisha is more reserved, but has a few choice words for her critics: Why am I this way? It needs no explanation. You saw the movie. You tell me why not.
