Mardi Gras terror threat accused gets bail
An Islamic preacher who allegedly threatened a terrorist attack against the Mardi Gras parade has been granted bail by a Sydney court this week.
Ibrahim Siddiq-Conlon is accused of making the terrorist threat against the parade earlier this year on the Facebook page of Today FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show.
He is also facing two unrelated child pornography charges after police allegedly found child abuse material on his laptop.
Justice Geoff Bellew of the NSW Supreme court banned Siddiq-Conlon from using the internet or a phone with internet access. The court also imposed a night curfew and daily police reporting conditions.
He was also banned from entering any point of international departure or applying for a new passport.
The Lakemba preacher, who works as an architect, founded the Sharia4Australia group to agitate for the introduction of strict Islamic law in Australia.
