Wrestling club’s new venue
The Harbour City Wrestling Club will move to a new location. Their current training ground, Boxing Works, will cease to operate due to development.
“For about a year the gym has been waiting for its marching orders. The Harbour City Wrestling Club has been training at Boxing Works for around nine years,” Harbour City Wrestling Club spokesman Barry Webb said.
“The gym is one of those real gyms where you know the people give character to the place. It’s sad as the building is a classic but we do have a place to go.”
Boxing Works has secured an alternative space at Pelican St, Darlinghurst.
“Harbour City Wrestling Club hopes to fit in there and take advantage of the upscale wrestling mats and facilities,” Webb said.
“We will still try to offer this wrestling sport to the gay community and indeed to all comers. I imagine being in Darlinghurst will be an added attraction.”
The club will vacate from their current building on Friday, December 4. Minimal changes will occur to training schedules.
