COOL tunes and delectable wines are coming together for a unique event at Parramatta’s Riverside Theatre next week.

Funk, jazz, pop and folk will come together for one afternoon as veteran Sydney singer/songwriter Liz Martin hits the stage for the special Sunday Twilight event.

The afternoon kicks off with a wine tasting with Nugan Estate wines from the Riverina, King Valley and McLaren Vale, followed by Martin’s exclusive performance.

“I’m playing with a five-piece band, doing some old and new stuff and quite a variety of stuff,” Martin said.

“It’s amazing working with people that have been doing it for a long time and seeing them in their element is just beautiful.

“It’s very warm and energetic on stage, we connect with the audience to travel through a genre of different styles.”

The Sunday Twilight event will be the first Martin has played in Parramatta.

“I haven’t actually played out in Parramatta before, I tend to be in the inner city or inner west,” she said.

“They’re (Riverside Theatre) very supportive in trying to bring music out to the west, I think they’re a great venue.”

Martin’s voice has been described as idiosyncratic, alluring and very honest. She told Star Observer music helped her get through some difficult years when she was younger.

“I love writing tracks and expressing myself in that way. People seem to enjoy what I do,” she said.

“I would do it regardless of whether I was getting paid or not.”
