For its second ever Fat Tuesday event, Aurora will be serving up a sumptuous pagan feast presided over by a bevy of delicious yet deadly femme fatales.
Tickets have gone on sale for the February 22 event, which will see patrons ringing in the Mardi Gras season with a true Fat Tuesday feast.
Originally celebrated as a pagan event and later adopted by the Christians as a preemptive feast to prepare for Lent, Fat Tuesday has taken on many guises around the world -” Carnivale, pancake Tuesday and most notoriously in the form of Sydney’s own Mardi Gras Parade.
Aurora last year joined in the fun and will continue to keep the spirit of overeating alive with a three-course French banquet on offer and a side serving of top notch entertainment.
Our inaugural event was a sellout, a huge hit with those who attended and raised over $7000, an Aurora spokesman said of the event which raises money for a range of non-HIV-affiliated community groups like the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service and Twenty10.
For Fat Tuesday 2009 we’re offering a -˜feast of femme fatales’ with seven incredibly talented performers -” singers, comedians, musicians. There will be some very well-known performers and some surprise packages, he said, without revealing too much other than that crepes are sure to feature as part of the menu which is tipped to have been inspired by the world’s deadliest women.
