IT looks like the cat is out of the bag — or the closet in this case — as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, has officially been outed as bisexual.

According to this week’s Catwoman #39, Kyle, who is now one of DC Comic’s highest-profile LGBTI characters, gave up her Catwoman identity to become a mob boss and confronts a new character named Eiko — who has slipped into the iconic cat-eared costume in Kyle’s absence. The moment ends with a kiss between the two women.

Writer for the series Genevieve Valentine, said in her blog that this was something she had intended to happen since she took over the series in October.

Catwoman is the fifth series from DC to feature an LGBTI character in an ongoing comic book since the publisher’s company-wide reboot in 2011.
