Coming together for Lesbian Day

More than 1000 lesbians, friends and family gathered at the Sydney Opera House for the Lesbians in the House concert on July 10.

The night included performances from openly gay artists including Judy Small, Deborah Cheetham, Bluehouse, and Sally Whitwell. Julie McCrossin hosted the Lesbian Logies, and the night also featured a photographic exhibition by Diann Payne, drumming by Tranceportation and Feral Fingers, and a community choir.

Now the team behind the concert, Creative Womyn Down Under, is organising a special encore event at the Women’s Library in Newtown on Saturday, October 8 for International Lesbian Day. From 2-5pm, attendees can enjoy an afternoon of selected highlights from the Lesbians in the House concert.

Over afternoon tea, Creative Womyn will show the Sappho to Ellen slideshow, the In Memory DVD, and other photographic and video highlights from the concert. There will also be live music. Entry is by donation to the Women’s Library at the door.
