Grindr creator as hooked as the rest

It seems not even the creator of iPhone gay hook-up app Grindr is immune to its ‘on-demand’ allure.

In an interview with New York newsweekly, The Village Voice, Grindr founder Joel Simkhai said he’s met guys on Grindr and done “all sorts of things” with them.

“I’m on it all the time. I’ve met lots of guys and made some good relationships and dated and had friendships,” Simkhai said.

When asked if he was looking for a boyfriend, Simkhai responded: “I don’t know. Can one look for a boyfriend?”

“I can’t say I believe in searching for love, or you’ll end up with the wrong situation. Relationships are a lot of work. To make it worth it, you have to find the right person, not force it,” he said.

Simkhai’s next tech endeavour is called Project Amicus. It’s a geosocial network he says will allow people of all sexualities to meet other people around them.

“It goes beyond social orientation, gender, any of that. You can go on Facebook and talk to all the people you already know, but how do you meet new people? We’ll hopefully launch this summer,” he told The Village Voice.

  1. This Iphone App “Grinder” is very dissapointing and I have found thats its mainly catered for under 22yr olds with pouting girly poses and bizzare hair cuts that seem to be on this app 24/7 operating under a shield of darkness in their bedroom in their parents house.
I have found some really bizzare profiles on this app, from the above to people wanting phone numbers & home addreses then simply dissapearing,Like the information is being slowly collected and stored…
Dodgy photos, stolen photos (Mainly from other gay meeting sites like Dudesnude, they say its them but its not)
You’ll find your phone sending one sms after another “By itself” and it always drops out of the 3G network.
Where are the real men these days? thanks
