A running success

It was a successful meet for a handful of Sydney’s gay and lesbian triathletes who competed at the ITU Triathlon World Championships on the Gold Coast this month.
Athletes participated in the Olympic distance race, 1.5km swim followed by a 40km bike and 10km run, or the sprint triathlon, half the distance of the Olympic triathlon. Each event was divided into age groups and the races ran in conjunction with the elite competition.
Sydney athlete Sally Taggart earned a bronze medal in the women’s 40-44 Olympic distance race with local triathletes Kate Rowe and Jim Box both finishing fourth in their divisions.
Sydney athlete Matt Webster competed in the sprint triathlon to secure third place in the men’s 35-39 category.
