Cher’s fury at Oscar snub

Cher has jumped on Twitter to express her disappointment about You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me missing out on an Academy Award nomination for best song.

The Diane Warren-penned ballad, which many consider the musical highlight of Burlesque, was a hot pick for an Oscar nod after winning a Golden Globe Award, last week but the ballad was notably absent from the list of nominees.

Christina Aguilera’s entry Bound To You, penned by Australia’s Sia Furler, was also ignored, making it a bleak night for the ladies from Burlesque.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Cher let her 100,000 or so Twitter followers know exactly how she felt about the snub.

“We didn’t get a nomination 4 best song ! That sucks ! Diane’s song Is so beautiful ! It’s hard to understand how u win … The Golden Globe 4 BEST SONG & not even get nominated by the OSCARS? Oh well it is..what it is ,,,,the sun is still shining !”

Things got even more heated when someone had the nerve to accuse the pop icon of whinging.

Cher put the upstart back in his place, replying “LACK OF RESPECT & TOTAL DISREGARD Up Yours Dude ! xxxxCHER.”

It would have been great if the song was nominated – if only for the chance to see the legendary diva belt it out at the ceremony.

So, do you agree with Cher – was You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me (below) was robbed?

  1. Disappointed it wasn’t nominated, but after seeing the movie, the song didn’t really fit in the movie at all. It was just sung by Cher mid-way and Cher walked off. Dianne Waren thanked Cher for fighting to keep it in the movie (and I can understand why they wanted to cut it).
