Madonna cancels Australian tour

Madonna cancels Australian tour

Madonna has scrapped plans for her first Australian tour in 20 years, News Ltd reports.

Live Nation Australia confirmed the cancellation today after Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, reportedly told the promoter about the pop star’s change of heart overnight.

Madonna was to announce summer dates for Melbourne and Sydney on July 12 as part of her MDNA world tour, but postponed the announcement until after the London Olympics.

She announced details of the 2012/13 tour – which began on May 29 in Israel – at the beginning of the year. It was set to be her most extensive tour ever in terms of number of dates and was the first time the singer had come to Australia in 20 years.

“We’ll get to these markets where she’s never been, some exciting new places, and get back to Australia after too long a time,” Live Nation Global Touring CEO Arthur Fogel said at the time.
