Our Tony up for a Tony

The nominations for the 65th annual Tony Awards were announced last night in New York, and among the nominees was Australia’s own Tony Sheldon (pictured), recognised for his portrayal of Bernadette in the Broadway production of Priscilla, Queen of t

he Desert.

While reviews of the $15 million dollar musical have been lukewarm, many critics singled out Sheldon for his winning performance as the world weary mother hen Bernadette.

Competing alongside Sheldon for the prize are Norbert Leo Butz for Catch Me If You Can, Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells respectively for The Book of Mormon, and Joshua Henry for The Scottsboro Boys. The Tony Awards will be presented on June 12 in New York.
