Ad hopes to reinvigorste WAD

The AIDS Trust, in conjunction with ACON, has launched a television commercial to promote World AIDS Day this year as part of a large-scale plan to reinvigorate the charity event.

Now in its 20th year, World AIDS Day is taking a new approach to the event in an effort to re-engage the public.

This is the 20th World AIDS Day and so of course there is a challenge in keeping people engaged, AIDS Trust chief executive Nick Toonen said.

The television ad, which features Marcia Hines and was produced at no cost by Foxtel, will screen on Foxtel and free to air TV throughout November.

The concept focuses on people in everyday situations who have loved ones affected by HIV/AIDS, ACON president Mark Orr said.
Basically we’re asking people to have a heart and show that they care by wearing a red ribbon or making a donation on World AIDS Day.
