Bigger and better Gay Games

A Sydney man has been elected to the Federation of Gay Games board.

Jon Baldan has been appointed the Officer of Technology. He will chair the technology committee, manage vendors and help develop and build the Gay Games’ technology platform.

“My primary goal is the revision of the existing website for the Federation,” Baldan said.

“It is starting to look very dated. It had a revision in 2004 but it needs to be brought up to date with the latest technology to provide a great experience for all.

“I would also like to move the technology direction so the members who make up the Federation can make use of the partnerships that have been forged with solution providers.

“The Federation would like to offer a similar system to each of its member organisations so they can use it for their own events."

The Federation oversees the quadrennial Gay Games and safeguards its founding principles of participation, inclusion, and personal best. An all-volunteer organisation, the Federation consists of a board of directors and an assembly of organisations.

Two new honorary life members were also honoured by the Federation – Richard Cobden and Richard Hogan.

Team Sydney has two delegates to the assembly of FGG. Due to his new role, Jon has had to relinquish his position as one of the two delegates and this vacancy will be filled in 2008.
