Dykes on Bikes choose leaders

The Sydney chapter of Dykes on Bikes selected a new committee at its AGM, with all members elected unopposed.

Outgoing president Annette Mesure was replaced by Nic Fletcher, while treasurer for the last three years, Cheryl Webster, has handed the baton to Gail Willcocks.

The new vice president is Karin Wilkinson, and the club secretary is Donna Bell.

Taking on the roles of membership, merchandising, and media officers are Ma’ayan Amiezer, Nomes Holmes and Lyn Doherty respectively.

Ride leaders for the next year will be Jenny Gunther, Karen Cooper, Liesa Huggins and Megan Caple.

The new committee thanked outgoing members for their hard work and dedication.

A proposal that the club should investigate the idea of a scholarship to help young women get their motorcycle licence is being explored and will be voted on at the next AGM.

The club also voted on which charities it would support over the next year, choosing the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service of NSW and Camp Goodtime (for children with HIV).

The counselling service and Camp Goodtime were also Dykes on Bikes’ charities for the previous year. They were presented with cheques worth $2000 each during the club’s 2010 thanksgiving ride.
