Go red this Sunday

Those with nothing to do this Sunday should volunteer to help make ribbons for World AIDS Day this year.

The red ribbon season is only three months away so ACON is looking for volunteers to get involved in this Sunday’s fun red ribbon-making working bee at Paddington RSL.

ACON’s event organiser David Wilkins said participants are assured of a good day out.

Our stockpile of ribbons needs to be refreshed, so we’re hoping to get a whole lot of people in to build up those supplies, he said.

We’re really trying to get people to take up a table, get some friends involved, and all come down to listen to some DJs and have some snacks and drinks while they put together some ribbons.

There’s nothing confronting about putting together ribbons -” the worst you’re going to get is a prick on the finger. So it will be a lot of fun and there will be prizes throughout the day for the neatest ribbons and the tables that manage to produce the most.

There’s no obligation for anyone to sell them once we’ve put them together -” though that would be great if they wanted to. Obviously, the aim is to make 50,000 and then sell every one of them.

Don’t let them set the record straight
