Penrith youth to party

A group of young adults from the Penrith Warehouse Youth Health Centre will be making their debut at this year’s Mardi Gras.

Their chosen theme, “Labels are for clothes – not us!”, was inspired by the play Mothballs, which tells of a high school coming out.

The group has decided to take on the stereotypes that are sometimes placed upon same-sex attracted youth.

“Mardi Gras is great because it’s given us a means to bring gay youth together and show our presence within western Sydney,” one of the youths involved told SSO.

“This group has given me something to be proud of out here, and something to look forward to.”
