Schwarzenegger terminates bill
California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday officially vetoed the state’s same-sex marriage bill.
In announcing he had quashed the legislation, the governor said he was supportive of same-sex couples and signed off on three other bills which were pro-gay.
Schwarzenegger said that if he had signed the marriage bill it would have added confusion to a constitutional issue. He said it was up to the state’s Supreme Court to decide on the matter, or the people of California.
