The new Piaf?

The new Piaf?

Barb Jungr has been described as the 21st century Edith Piaf and is in the country to promote her new Australian album No Regrets.
She was the first woman to win a Perrier Award in the UK and is a popular performer on the London gay scene.
“I do have a large gay following back home. I’ve done loads of work with Julian Clary and I was a Pride performer for about 20 years,” Jungr said.
“I’ve always been very welcome and nearly everyone I know is gay.
“I also have a large lesbian following in England and in America. I’m an equal opportunities performer. I have always been an absolute supporter of open human rights.”
Jungr performs songs by people ranging from Ray Davies of The Kinks and Jacques Brel to Carole King on the new album, which is a collection of songs from her past albums and her favourite singers.
No Regrets features a few Bob Dylan tracks, some blues and gospel songs, Elvis Presley, Piaf and of course some love songs,” she said.
“It’s quite passionate work. People who love great singers and passion and powerful experiences should enjoy it.”
