Big Gay Day’s biggest party yet
BRISBANE’S best street party Big Gay Day returns for its 14th year this weekend.
The event will see Fortitude Valley’s Alden St transform into a big and gay party on Sunday — and all for a great cause.
This year the headliner is Boy George, who will be in Australia for an exclusive appearance as a DJ.
The bumper line-up also includes some of the hottest acts in town, some flying in after parties in Sydney’s Mardi Gras weekend, including the Freemasons, electronic songstress Luciana and American rapper and songwriter Cazwell.
The Potbelleez will also have the crowd pumping and The Voice star Sarah DeBono rounds out the list. They are joined by glitter pop/rock sound makers Rawr Vanity, incorporating both male and female vocals, three-part harmonies and a strong pop beat.
Crowd favourite MegaDrag also returns for choreographed excellence to rival anything you will see on So You Think You Can Dance.
Others on deck at Alden St include DJs Sveta, Dan Slater, Sammy Superstar, Beth Yen, while inside the Wickham Hotel, DJs include ACraig, Ish and Arsee, David Arbell, Les Smith, NeddEbear and Fradge will keep the party pumping.
Big Gay Day will be hosted by three scene favourites: Miss Synthetique, Trixie Onassis and Tropical Fruits Goddess Maude Boat.
This year, the charities receiving 25 per cent of the ticket profits are PFLAG, Open Doors, ATSAQ and QuAC.
