The Melbourne Spikers’ Snowgum/Eagle Leather Winter Slam Tournament is only a few weeks away, so now’s the time for potential players to register and get practising.

The Spikers are Melbourne’s gay and lesbian volleyball team, holding regular social and competition events throughout the year. The Winter Slam Tournament is definitely one of the highlights of the team’s calendar, and even if you can’t find anyone else to make up a team, you can enter on your own and be placed in one.

The tournament will be held at Kew High School’s Gymnasium on Saturday June 6. It costs $30 to enter, but entries close on May 31. If you want to participate, download the registration form from the Spikers’ website ASAP -” no late entries will be accepted.

After the tournament, an award ceremony will be held at The Fox Hotel at 351 Wellington St, Collingwood. While the winners are announced, players can have a post-game catch-up over a meal and a beer in this very gay-friendly establishment.

A few nights later, Spikers’ sponsor Eagle Leather will hold a shopping night exclusively for club members, making this the perfect time to join. On the evening of Tuesday June 9, Melbourne Spikers members can enjoy 15 percent off everything in the store.

If you’re not worn out from the previous weekend’s tournament, you can pick up whatever you need for a particularly athletic session of Bedroom Olympics.
