Nova says ‘I do’ to marriage equality

Radio station Nova FM has thrown its support behind the marriage equality campaign.

In an on-air announcement during the Fitzy and Wippa breakfast show today, the station said it wants same-sex couples to be able to marry.

“We’re proud to support this campaign and do whatever we can to bring about equality for all Australians,” the station announced.

Australian Marriage Equality national Convener Alex Greenwich welcomed the statement.

“Nova joins a growing list of Australian companies who have embraced the importance equality and the benefits it will deliver to couples, families and communities across the country,” Greenwich said.

“Whether it’s an internet giant like Google, a radio station like Nova, or a retailer like LUSH, corporate Australia understands that marriage equality is an issue a majority of Australians want to see happen in this term of government”.

Nova joins the likes of tech giant Google who came out in support of marriage equality and the global fight for better LGBT protections this week.

Cosmetics retailer LUSH is also collecting signatures for a petition and raising money for marriage equality this week in LUSH stores around Australia.

  1. Can they come up to Darkest Queensland and scare these evil, funda-fruit-cakes out of our parliament?

  2. Great to have a mainstream station with a lot of suburban listeners influencing people’s opinions. Also good to note how ‘aussie’ Nova is – a great voice for a great cause.
