Outfielders miss out but stay focused

The Outfielders softball team missed out on playing in the Australian Corporate Games finals following a close defeat at the end of a day of competition.

The Corporate Games is an annual event which raises awareness about diabetes while promoting healthy lifestyles.

With 13 teams playing in three pools of competition and a total of 180 competitors, it was always going to be a difficult day, said Outfielders spokesman Philip Ruble.

The Outfielders played Exxon Mobil Corporation in round one of play resulting in a 6-6 draw and the second round gave us a victory, in an 18-3 win over PPS Australia. We won again in the third game against ANZ with a final score of 16-11 but unfortunately this still wasn’t enough to push us into the play-offs, which we missed by two points, he said.

In spite of that, we’re still meeting to keep focus on preparation for the Outgames in July, where we will have two teams competing, thanks to our major sponsor Rainbowtourism.com.

Our main focus over the coming months therefore is going to keep on fundraising.
Our next big fundraiser will be a raffle at Fair Day, where people can win a trip to Cairns or the Hunter, including airfares and accommodation for two.

  1. Congratulations Outfielders; It is wonderful to follow your progress in both the local leagues, home training sessions and huge events where you can be up against some really stiff (!) competition.

    Keep up the good work
