Time to hit the greens

Time to hit the greens

Roll up to the Marrickville Bowls Club this Easter Sunday for a festive themed match that will pit sporting teams against each other as they vie to be first to the Easter Egg.
Unbiased Bowls, Sydney’s first gay and lesbian bowls group are holding a special Easter Sunday barefoot bowls session for all the sports men and women whose training grounds are shut over the long weekends.
The Freezone volleyball players have already started gathering numbers but Unbiased Bowls secretary Chris Gersbach says anyone is welcome.
Of course it would be fine for anyone who wants to come along, he assured.
I think what we’re going to do is maybe put some Easter eggs down and see who can get the closest to the egg. We might mix up some of the teams so that everyone has a couple of players from each side, just to see how people go then.
It’ll be a fun afternoon I think though, with drinks before during and after – you need that aiming fluid, and there’s some marvelous entertainment afterwards as well.
The afternoon will also be an important money raiser for the Marrickville Bowls Club who recently went into receivership.

The Unbiased Bowls Easter Egg Roll Up will be on Sunday April 12 at the Marrickville Bowls Club from 1.30pm. To take part get in touch with Chris on 0414 843 367.

  1. Mike and I went down to catch the Easter Bunny. It is a real hoot. Pity I lack the skill to be sensational – they kept telling me I should stick to Volleyball; don’t worry guys I will.

But we had such a good time on a glorious Easter Sunday, were welcomed by the whole crew, taught the game (we had never been near a bowling green before)and enjoyed a drink in the sun whilst fiddling with our balls.

Just don’t call it Unbiased – God my ball had more bias than George W -the gutters seemed almost as friendly as the hosts, and seeing my competition was my boyfriend, it was only a matter of who had to cook tea!

Huge thanks to Chris, John and the twittering socialites; this is a great place for any sports club or social groups night out. Very cheap too.

    Thanks Unbiased!

    Mike and Wally.

  2. Please note that Marrickville Bowling Club is NOT in receivership it was in the hands of Managers until 1st October, 2008 but is now trading as a bowling club in its own right with an ever increasing membership.
