A piece of my heart

A piece of my heart

I held myself together quite well as I left the airport this morning, after dropping Johnny off.

I was nervous when I picked him up from arrivals on Thursday, not sure if I was doing the right thing, opening my heart to someone I had only been with for three days, but I decided to follow my heart and go ahead with it.

Johnny was also nervous, flying from Adelaide for his last four days in Australia to stay with a relative stranger. As he came down the escalator, our eyes met and so did our smiles. We were soon in a cab holding hands like schoolkids.

The first day was disastrous, as our nerves got the better of us. It wasn’t until Friday that we started to see each other properly, and our walls came down. We were boyfriends for just four days and realised that we had to be there for those brief moments or we would lose them forever.

It wasn’t until we went to see Madama Butterfly at the Sydney Opera House that our hearts truly fluttered. Standing on the balcony, with a glass of champagne each, we looked into each other’s eyes — romantic would be an understatement.

We held hands in the theatre, and watched the amazing love story unfold on stage, and a small one right there in row J.

Our last day was just for us. We did the Harbour Bridge climb and snogged at the summit, captured on film for all to see, with the Opera House in the background, then dinner together.

I’m not saying I’ve found love, but Johnny has taken a piece of my heart with him back to the UK.

I’m happy to be involved in a fundraiser for Queensland flood victims that City Gym is holding this Friday, January 28, 5am-midnight. People are urged to participate in a virtual journey from Sydney to Brisbane and back. They hope to raise

$1 per kilometre, with everything raised being sent to those who need it. The kilometres can be done on a treadmill, bike, cross-trainer or rowing machine.
