For and against fag hags

Fag hags and fruit flies: trash or treasure? That’s the question a clutch of Sydney personalities will haggle over at the Sydney Pride Festival’s first ever Great Debate.

The line-up of celebrity panelists comically probing the question include Wendy Harmer, Joel Creasey, Felicity Ward, Brendan Maclean, Dan Ilic and Verushka Darling. Other debaters will be
revealed in the lead-up to the June 27 event, which will be held at Sydney’s Paddington RSL as a fundraiser for ACON.

“Whether we call them flame dames, lezbros, fag stags or dyke divas, there has always been a special place in our community for our straight mates,” ACON event coordinator David Wilkins said.

“So for this year’s debate, we’ve put together a terrific line-up of great comedic talent to figure out if these ‘fruit flies’ really are worth the buzz.

“It’s a sensational topic with lots of scope for shameless hilarity. Our celebrity debaters have told us they’re quivering with anticipation so it’s going to be a great night out.

“And it’s first time we’ve had a Great Debate during the Sydney Pride Festival so to mark the occasion we’re going to be pulling out all the stops.”
