Sydney DJ George Roussos has been invited to play a string of gigs in America.
Roussos, a regular fixture on the Sydney DJ scene, will be in the US this month, playing at Sex Is in Palm Springs, California; WoofClub in Los Angeles and the Milk Shake T-Dance in San Francisco as part of the Harvey Milk Day celebrations.
“It’s not every day that you get asked to play in the US so I consider this a great honour to be invited by such notable and reputable event organisers,” Roussos told Sydney Star Observer.
“I am flattered to be given this great oppurtunity and very excited to play at these great events.”
Roussos has been DJing for more than 20 years and has played some of Sydney and Melbourne’s best-loved dance parties and venues.
“My favourite gigs in Sydney would be WoofClub, UnderBear and Inquisition. In Melbourne io would be BearNation,” he said.
“These parties are a lot of fun, and I get to work among some great people in the community.
“They all offer their DJs the artistic freedom to perform in their own style and be true to it. The gigs have an edge and reputation which I like being involved in and working with.
“I enjoy being part of the Bear and Leather community events and being embraced by them on the dancefloor.”
While it won’t be Roussos’ first international gig — he has played the Apothiki party in Greece and the Lazy Bear WoofClub closing party in Guerneville, California — he says he’d still trade them for a chance to gig at two of the best parties on the planet.
“I would like to get the opportunity to play at the Mardi Gras party and Tropical Fruits in Lismore for New Year’s Eve,” Roussos said.
“They are two great parties that I enjoy going to and would love the opportunity to play at.”
