A Black Friday for music lovers

A Black Friday for music lovers

If you’ve logged o to Facebook or Twitter over the weekend, chances are you’re probably already familiar with budding pop phenomenon Rebecca Black.

The 13 year old American literally became an overnight sensation when Comedy Central posted her single Friday on their blog under the title Songwriting Isn’t For Everyone.

In the following hours more than two and half million people checked out the video on YouTube, with the general consensus being that Rebecca’s anthem is either a work of satire or the worst song ever recorded.

Which begs the question – is Friday really that bad?

Sure, the lyrics are laugh out loud embarrassing (“gotta get down to the bus stop, gotta catch my bus”) and Bec has more autotune on her rice paper thin voice than Kim Kardashian but there is something undeniably addictive about the chorus – and she is only 13 years old.

What exactly is she supposed to sing about? Gettin’ crunk in tha club?

More interesting, in our opinion, is the production house behind the song – Ark Factory.

They appear to custom design songs and videos for undiscerning rich girls desperate for a career in pop.

A quick look at their YouTube page showcases the talent (or lack thereof) of half a dozen other wannabe divas like Rebecca.

Has she been unfairly singled out or is this really the most heinous recording in pop history?

Watch below and decide for yourself.
