Gay swimmer gets one up
Glamourhead Shark swimmer Beau Webb is used to making a splash in the pool but last month he joined a number of prominent swimmers and athletes to promote a local swimwear label.
Funky Trunks cast Webb alongside open water swim champion Sam Sheppard, national swimmer Zac Charlton and triathlete Greg Farrell in a cheeky video to promote their latest underwear line.
The funny video features the athletes just in underwear and getting one up on each other with buckets of water, water balloons and fire hoses.
Melbourne’s Glamourhead Sharks is the city’s gay and gay-friendly swimming club which competes in local, national and international events.
Funky Trunks founder and managing director Duncan McLean said Webb was a perfect fit for the Funky Trunks campaign as it was a long-standing sponsor of the Glamourheads.
“I think it’s important to profile a diverse range of athletes in our campaigns,” he said.
“The gay community has given us a huge amount of support to build Funky Trunks. We show our appreciation of this through our long-standing sponsorship of the Glamourhead Sharks.
“Glamourhead’s swimmer Beau Webb was a perfect fit for our underwear launch for his personality, ability and of course athletic physique.”
He said every guy had a story of getting one up on their mate and he wanted to show that with the new underwear line.
“We just wanted to celebrate something that’s a part of true Aussie mateship,” he said.
