Members encouraged to attend SGLBA AGM

The SGLBA’s annual general meeting will be held on Thursday, September 22, at the ACON offices at 414 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills.

The current SGLBA board asks current financial members to attend the meeting to hear reports from the 2010-2011 directors, and to elect the new board.

Current board member Amanda Keeling believes this is an important chance for members to endorse their representatives by voting for the new board.

“It’s essential that members attend the AGM in order to have their say about who they would like to have on the board,” she said.

“Some of the current board members will be standing again and there are a few stepping down. There will be positions available on the board and we are keen to see these spots filled by people who the members feel can really contribute to the organisation and the future direction of the Association.”

There will be a casual networking function after the formal part of the evening.

If you can’t make it to the AGM, please organise your proxies (will be posted to members).

The SGLBA welcomes new directors’ applications from committed, skilled professionals. Women are especially encouraged to apply.

If you are interested in joining the SGLBA board, please complete a nomination form. The secretary must receive your nomination form by September 15 2011, being seven (7) days prior to the AGM. Please include a summary of no more than 100 words about why you are interested in joining the board and the skills you can contribute. This information will be sent to all SGLBA members prior to the AGM.

To nominate or run, you must be a financial member of the SGLBA by September 12 2011, seven (10) days prior to the AGM.

If you cannot attend but would like to vote, please complete the proxy form and return it immediately. The secretary must receive proxy forms by September 21 2011, being one (1) day prior to the AGM. Please note: partner members are not eligible to vote or hold office.
