Aggressive gays to blame for PM pull out: ACL

The Australian Christian Lobby has blamed “aggressive gay activists” and the media for Julia Gillard’s decision to withdraw from its national conference.

Earlier today, the PM today she would no longer speaking at the ACL conference in Canberra next month after it’s managing director Jim Wallace said being gay was worse for your health than smoking.

“This is a victory for the relentless campaign of demonisation against anyone who would challenge the gay activists’ agenda in the public square,” Wallace said today in a statement.

“This is a blow to free speech of which there will be even greater pressure if the definition of marriage is changed.”

He attempted to retract his earlier comments that smokers had better life expectancy than gay people.

“What I did say is that heterosexual sex and homosexual sex are different and have different health consequences. They should not be packaged the same way as marriage because, as just one of many reasons, they are different,” he said.

“If we warn against smoking because it carries health dangers, we should also be warning young people in particular about activity which clearly carries health risks.”
