Franco defends banned gay film

American actor James Franco is the latest voice to criticise the banning of a gay film by the Australian Classification Board.
Travis Mathews’ I Want Your Love was banned from both the Mardi Gras Queer Film Festival and Melbourne Queer Film Festival this year for its ‘too explicit’ sex scenes.
In a YouTube video post on Monday, Franco said “this just is such a disappointment to me and just seems really silly”.
“Sex is such a big part of our lives… to keep it from films that want to explore it as human behaviour is very short-sighted and very hypocritical,” he said.
“I don’t think we would be having this conversation if he had made a very violent film.”
An online petition against the ban has notched up almost 2,500 signatures as of Tuesday.
