Gloves – Operator Please
Operator Please’s debut album showed promise, but occasionally came off as immature — which was to be expected, considering the band were barely past foetal age. Now, with a couple of years under their collective belts, they’ve returned with a much stronger second offering. They’ve been influenced by vintage ’80s funk-pop — Prince, Janet Jackson, Vanity 6 — and it shows on tracks like the addictive single Logic. Singer Amundah is the star of the show throughout, her feisty vocals shining best on awesome opener Catapult.
