I was born a man

I was born a man

Okay, I must get something clear straight away, and from the mouth of a wise one, I was born as a man! Thanks, Miriam.

But to be honest I spent most of my time this weekend as a woman. Traditionally the Queen’s Birthday weekend for me is a trashy time that stretches over the whole three days. It usually ends with me in a heap on the lounge, in my transitional stage, half male and half female. Well, this traditional end happened, but it wasn’t because I had partied too hard, I was just shagged (and not in a good way either).

Unfortunately I had to work the majority of the weekend, leaving me able to enjoy the weekend only a few hours at a time. One thing I am a little disappointed about is that I was unable to attend Big Queer Nation. From all reports it was fantastic, with 8,000 partygoers having the time of their lives.

I was speaking to Queer Nation legend, Claire de Lune, who was worried at the beginning about only getting a few of the QN regulars to the party. The rest, she feared, would be bogans. Claire was very pleased to see that the audience was full of fabulousness, with fabulous showgirls such as Courtney Act, who I can safely say is always fantastic. Mind you, the wheelbarrow girls should be a regular for any show -“ I heard they were a hoot.

As for Kristine W, I was lucky enough to see this lady perform at the Colombian on Thursday, and wow! To be honest, I have only heard of Kristine W from the advertisements for BQN, but after seeing her perform, I think she’s amazing. And I heard her performance at the party was also amazing, and may even be used for her new film clip. Where else could you get 8,000 fabulous looking people in one place at one time?

There was a lot happening around town if you, like me, didn’t make it to BQN. All of the clubs were full of partygoers prepared to have a good time no matter where they where. Some of my adventures this weekend took me to Stonewall, Venus Room, Palms, the Midnight Shift and even Moulin Rouge and the Taxi Club.

After all the craziness I have to admit I am happy that the next big party is Sleaze Ball. I am going to need that long to get feeling back into my feet. I’ve got my feet in the foot spa now, just in case there’s one earlier.

EYESPY I have accomplished a few goals this week. One, appearing on Bert Newton’s show, happened last Monday. Mind you, my grandmother had a heart attack after Bert and I gave her a cheerio from the tele. Another goal was to get on NOVA, and by goodness Penny Tration and I did that. Doing the Queen’s Birthday messages all weekend, both of us drew on our campest moments for inspiration. Oh how multimedia I’ve been! I hope the DIVA judges were taking notice.
