GLOBE community grants applications now open

THE Melbourne-based Gay and Lesbian Organisation for Business and Enterprise (GLOBE) has opened its 2015 applications for the Community Grants Program aimed at Victorian LGBTI community groups, individuals and students.

GLOBE is a non-profit organisation that provides Victorian LGBTI community members the opportunity to further develop their skills and interests by offering grants of up to $1000.

The organisation is also introducing a new scholarship category directed at LGBTI students called the Inaugural GLOBE Scholarship.

This aims to help LGTBI students or early career professionals with a $1000 scholarship to support their education.

GLOBE president David Micallef said they were working hard to help young LGBTI people to enhance their futures.

“As young LGBTI people continue to face barriers to developing their careers, this scholarship is designed to support an individual to seek opportunities and support their study,” he said.

Over the past 22 years, GLOBE has provided over $42,000 to both groups and individuals to help them achieve their goals and strengthen the community.

“This is one of my favourite times of the year,” Micallef said.

“GLOBE gets to hear about some of the great work done by community groups and then gives something back to help them grow.”

Applications are now open and close at midnight on April 30.
