Nomads kick off summer season
The Nomads, a group of more than 100 men from around Victoria who meet to participate in outdoor activities, have started their summer calendar of events with the Cathedral Range to Sugarloaf Peak circuit and their Christmas BBQ this week.
Their big event of the holiday season is a pack-carrying, eight-day adventure along the Great South West Walk starting at Mt Richmond and ending at Moleside Camp.
Leaving on Boxing Day, the Nomads’ walk will take them through the Cobboboonee Forest to the Cape Nelson Lighthouse, Bridgewater Bay and Glenelg River. They will camp at the hike-in-only campsites.
Activities in the coming months include cycle rides, circuit walks, nude beach days and canoeing.
The group will also participate in Midsumma and Pride March events.

Queer media is under threat from all sides – don’t let them set the record straight
As the world becomes increasingly intolerant, businesses are turning their backs on our community — withholding vital financial support. Mainstream media panders to the haters by running transphobic and homophobic stories while exploiting us for clickbait.
Meanwhile, US-based tech corporations instruct their algorithms to censor LGBTQIA+ content, impacting our community’s ability to communicate.
LGBTQIA+ media has been hit doubly hard. As AI-generated slop is served up instead of credible journalism, web traffic to all news sites, from the New York Times to the Star Observer, is plummeting globally.
