The way forward on marriage

Leading marriage equality advocates will outline their views on the way forward for the issue and seek community input at upcoming forums in Melbourne and Sydney.

Newly-appointed national convenor of Australian Marriage Equality (AME), Rodney Croome, said the recent votes against marriage equality at a federal level and in the Tasmanian Upper House provide an opportunity to re-assess the direction of the marriage equality campaign.

“Advocates for reform, including myself, are keen to get community feedback on how to make the marriage equality movement as strong and effective as possible,” Croome said.

Speakers at the forums will include retired AME national convenor Alex Greenwich, national PFLAG spokeswoman Shelley Argent, and representatives from local LGBTI and marriage equality advocacy organisations.

The Melbourne Forum will be held at VicHealth on November 15 and Sydney’s at Beresford Hotel on November 25.
