They are leaders in music programming, and with each new album Fischerspooner set a new benchmark in the world of electroclash.

It’s been four years but the pair’s third studio album Entertainment is out now.

Back from touring Europe, Fischerspooner’s vocalist Casey Spooner took time out on his day off to speak to Sydney Star Observer.

I’ve been being lazy and playing on Facebook all day, he laughed.

Europe was incredible and really amazing. The show will be a catalogue of all of our songs and at the moment the show is very visual and it’s all about the performance and image.
Also consisting of Warren Fischer, the duo have released tunes though Ministry of Sound, EMI and Capitol

Records, but their latest creation was made without the backing of the big labels.

It feels like a rebirth as we are not working with any kind of big business behind us or brothering us … it was just the perception of trying to conquer the system. In a way we gave up and it feels good to give up, Spooner said.

Strategically, we wanted to look into the future of releasing music. Last March we tested releasing singles only and it took a while to pan out. By the time this happened we realised it was the right thing for us and for what our fans wanted in an album.

Entertainment was recorded over a two-year period with producer Jeff Saltzman. The album was recorded in a carriage house in Brooklyn.

The album features guests including Ann Magnuson, UK musician Gabriel Olegavich and electric collagist Steven Stein.

Spooner said the group’s music had changed over the years as they grew as musicians.

The first record had a very aggressive synthetic digital sound and that seemed very fresh and that sort of became the status quo but it became dull for us to hear over so many years of performing it, he said.

With Odyssey [their second album], we moved toward more instrumentation and we also had more access to resources and production we never had before. With this one it’s a combination of both.

There is more programming and synthetic elements but still we learn how to do instrumentation and we learnt how to write songs a bit better.

The electroclash duo is set to visit Australia in October, but dates are yet to be confirmed.
