Gay hoax pamphlet offering money

Star Observer readers living in the Darlinghurst area are advised to ignore a hoax flyer offering money to gay men and lesbians that is being left in the letterboxes of residential properties.

The flyer, which purports to come from a “homosexual agent” urgently looking for gay men and lesbians of “any nationality with different skin colour” and offers “commission fees” and other payments for unspecified services, was reported to the Star Observer by a reader.

When this paper called the number on the flyer, it reached a community college in Sydney’s southern suburbs. Star Observer discovered that a woman of the same name that is used in the flyer works at the college.

However, she had no knowledge of the flyer, which appears to have been created by someone for the purpose of harming her working relationship with her employer as the number on the flyer is the college’s general enquiries number and the college’s street address is also included.

The college is now looking into the matter and considering whether to report the pamphlet to police.
