Lisa McCune to perform Broadway classics with legendary bass-baritone Bryn Terfel

THIS March, Melbourne will experience a once-in-a-lifetime musical pairing when international superstar bass-baritone Bryn Terfel joins Australia’s sweetheart of the stage and screen, Lisa McCune in their first performance together with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO).

Bryn Terfel and Lisa McCune sing Broadway Classics will see the duo perform nostalgic songs from hit musicals including Camelot, Anything Goes and Carousel on March 14-15 at Hamer Hall.

“I am looking forward to returning to Australia to perform with two Melbourne icons – the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Lisa McCune, they are the heart and soul of the city,” Terfel said.

Following on from her successful stage roles in South Pacific and The King and I, McCune said it had been a dream of hers to perform with the MSO.

“I am thrilled to be performing with the MSO for the first time and the opportunity of working alongside the great Bryn Terfel. It caps off a terrific few years of live performance for me in my hometown,” she said.

The special concert will be conducted by composer and pianist Bramwell Tovey.

To mark the launch of the MSO’s 2015 season, a Season Opening Night Party will follow the performance on Saturday 14 March.

Terfel will also be performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Berlioz’s The Damnation of Faust, conducted by Sir Andrew Davis on March 20-21.
