The thong gong

On Australia Day next week, the Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge will once again be taking place down at Bondi Beach, as Sydney participants attempt to break a world record for the longest line of inflatable thongs joined in the ocean.

Bondi took out the challenge last year and beat neighbouring states, setting a new world record attempt of 2068 people.

Each year, $10 from each registration fee for the event is donated to the local Nippers club, and last year more than $65,000 was raised for Australia’s Nippers.

For $25 you can register to take part in the event and receive a giant inflatable Havaiana.

There will be a limited number of registrations available on the day for $30.
