Big Brother’s Ben proposes after win

Australia’s first gay Big Brother winner, Benjamin Norris, has proposed to his partner Ben Williams live on national television after claiming the show’s top prize last night.

The 32-year-old Melbourne accounts manager defeated fellow contestants Estelle Landy and Layla Subritzky to win the reality TV competition.

After Norris was announced the winner of $250,000, he got down on one knee and proposed to 27-year-old Williams, who said yes.

Norris reportedly told other housemates he wanted to use the winnings to start a family.

“I’ve never really won anything in my entire life and I came in here and thought the only way I could do this was to just be myself, warts and all and have this journey,” he told Big Brother host Sonia Kruger.

“I will never have words to describe how thankful I am.”

Norris was the only gay contestant for Big Brother 2012.
