Cher backs Chaz

Cher has publicly expressed support for her son’s soon to be released documentary about life as a transgender man, according to People Magazine.

The pop icon held a screening of Becoming Chaz for a group of friends at her Malibu home.

“I admire my son Chaz’s courage for sharing his personal journey,” the Believe singer was quoted as saying.

“Most important to me is that he is very happy. He has my love and support.”

Chaz Bono began his female-to-male transition in 2008 and eventually underwent sex reassignment surgery the following year.

Becoming Chaz will premiere on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network on May 10.

His memoir Transition will be released on the same day.

  1. I applaud Chaz for her bravery, and I’m so thankful for Cher supporting Chaz’s transgendered journey.

The transexual community needs much more support in general. Although I am not a fan of artists like Jessie J, I support her decision as a male-to-female transexual, and applaud her bravery for entering the music scene as a transgendered individual.

Please keep us Sydneysiders in the loop with Chaz’s journey SSO. It’s so inspiring.
