Academy award winner Gwyneth Paltrow is close to signing an album deal with Atlantic Records according to the New York Post.

The musically inclined actress has dabbled in pop over the years, scoring a major hit in Australia with Cruisin’ a decade ago before recently returning to prominence with a recurring role in the hit TV series Glee.

Her performance of Forget You on the show even sparked an acclaimed collaboration with Cee-Lo Green at this year’s Grammy Awards.

There is now talk that Gwyneth is ready to make singing her day job.

“[Her] agents have been talking to a number of labels about landing her a substantial record deal,” a source told the New York Post.

“Those who have heard the music say it’s country pop – many labels would be reluctant to give a deal to a star whose first priority is film, but in recent weeks there have been discussions with Atlantic.”

Do you think Gwyneth has what it takes to make it as a country-pop diva a la Taylor Swift?
