Kelly Osbourne tweets Australian gay marriage support
IT is not just Australia who is upset over the loss of same-sex marriage today in the ACT.
Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne tweeted to her almost three-and-a-half million followers a message of support for the 30 gay and lesbian couples who where married in the ACT since Saturday, demanding that Prime Minister Tony Abbott let them remain married, and then linking her tweet to a change.org petition: “Let the 30 that got married in Canberra be recognised in Australia!”
State-based same-sex marriage was passed in the ACT government in October and the first marriage ceremony was held on December 7, but today the High Court unanimously struck done the legislation after declaring it unconstitutional and inconsistent with the federal Marriage Act.
