New look at Madonna’s W.E.

New look at Madonna’s W.E.

Promotional images from the upcoming W.E., which is written, produced and directed by Madonna, have been released.

The classic-themed promotional shots suggest we may be in for quite a treat with the film – more than 2002’s Swept Away, let’s hope.

The two-tier romantic drama focuses on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.

The pop star’s new foray into film will star Australian actress Abbie Cornish, Andrea Riseborough, James D’Arcy and Oscar Issac.

W.E. will premiere at the 68th Venice Film Festival this September and will be shown two weeks later at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival.

  1. Is anyone capable of writing about Madonna’s W.E. without referring to ‘Swept Away’??
Movies are a matter of taste and critics are like sheep! When Swept Away came out I actually read 3 very positive crits and have always enjoyed the movie. Other critics just seemed out to knock Madonna. I hope the same isn’t going to happen here . Judgment is a negative trait!
I saw part if W.E. being filmed in London and I think there are going to be some very surprised critics indeed. What I saw was fabulous!
